हमारी सभ्यता धूल से बचना चाहती है क्योंकि वह आसमान को छूने की इच्छा रखती है। धूल के प्रति उनमें हीन भावना है। धूल को सुंदरता के लिए खतरा माना गया है। इस धूल से बचने के लिए ऊँचे-ऊँचे आसमान में घर बनाना चाहते हैं जिससे धूल से उनके बच्चे बचें। वे बनावट-श्रृंगार को महत्त्व देते हैं। वे कल्पना में विचरते रहना चाहते हैं, वास्तविकता से दूर रहते हैं।
