Explanation:

The waste water contains many mixed harmful chemicals. Thus, if it drains in the river, it adversely affects the river organisms. This may even lead to eutrophocation, I.e., due to excessive addition of nitrates and phospates, the river water gets nourished which leads to the growth of bacteria and algae, etc, which use up the oxygen of the water, thus the amount of oxygen reduces for the marine animals. Further, this water will be unfit for drinking. Many diseases can occur due to this contaminated water, like typhoid.
