Let box C be x.

Box C = x kg

Box B = x + 10 1/4 kg

Box A = ( x + 10 1/4 ) + 2 1/2 = x + 12 3/4 kg

.

The total weight is 48 3/4 kg:

x + (x + 10 1/4) + (x + 12 3/4 ) = 48 3/4

x + x + 10 1/4 + x + 12 3/4 = 48 3/4

3x + 23 = 48 3/4

3x = 25 3/4

3x = 103/4

x = 103/4 ÷ 3

x = 103/4 x 1/3

x = 103/12

x = 8 7/12 kg

.

Find the weights of the boxes:

Box C = x = 8 7/12 kg

Box B = x + 10 1/4 = 8 7/12 + 10 1/4 = 18 5/6 kg

Box A = x + 12 3/4 = 8 7/12 + 12 3/4 = 21 1/3kg

.

Answer: Box A weighs 21 1/3 kg

if c=x. b=x+10 1/4 a=x+12 3/4. 3x+23=48 3/4 x=(25 3/4)/3 x=103/12. c=8 7/12. b=18 5/6 a= 21 1/3.
