Thermosetting plastics are used in saucepan handles because they do not soften on heating and also they cannot be bent easily. These plastics like bakelite are poor conductors of heat.

Bakelite is a polymer which is scratch resistant and an excellent insulator. Due to this, it is used in making cooking utensils which do not conduct heat.

Thermosetting plastics are used for making those articles which may get too hot during use and are hard and rigid.
