Answer:

Distance = 24km

Let the speed of boat be 'b'

Let the speed of water be 'w'

Downstream : Speed = b+w

Upstream: Speed = b-w

Downstream time = 4hrs

DIST. = SPEED × TIME

24 = (b+w) × 4

Upstream time = 6hrs

24 = (b-w)×6

b+w = 6 ---(1)

b-w= 4 ----(2)

Solving (1) and (2) to get:

b = 5

w = 1

Therefore , Speed of boat is 5km/hr

and speed of current is 1km/hr
