in this chapter patrick didnt want to do his homework and he made the elf do it for him but the elf kept on bugging him to show him how to do stuff therefore by showing him patrick himself had to do it .this way he studied and got good marks in his paper. through this chapter the author wanted to say that through hardwork we can gain success , patrick wanted good marks for the term and he got it but not because of he wanted to do it but because he wanted the elf do it so he had to teach the elf , that way he learnt and got himself good marks , but we dont have an elf to do the work for us so we have to have that mindset such as i want get good marks this term or year with a clear goal we can get the urge to achive the goal , and will work hard on achenving that goal
