both hardware and software are necessary for computer to do job.The same hardware can be load with different software to perform difference job

Hardware are the external tools which runs a system.
Software is a collection of programs which control the hardware. When the software fails, then the hardware cannot be controlled and hence the system is rendered useless. Its the same thing the other way too. Hence they both complement each other.
