Given:

Hari has 5 1/2 L of milk.

He uses 4//5 of the total milk

gives 1/3 of the remaining to his friends

TO find:

By how much milk he was left with.

Solution:

1) Hari has 5 1/2L milk means total 11/2 L

2) Hari used 4/5 of milk means he had 1/5 milk left with him now,

  • Milk left = (11/2)×(1/5)

                     = 11/10

3) Hari gave 1/3 of milk to his friends means he was left with 2/3 of milk.

  • Milk left = (11/10)×(2/3)

                     = 11/15

Hari was left with 11/15 L (0.733 approx.) milk.
