1. Many of the Eetha Chettu saplings planted during Haritha Haram have not survived. Study shows that survival rate of saplings is less than 50 % in many districts of Telangana.
2. Independent media sources claim that actual number of seeds planted are less than the high numbers shown by the state government. They claim lapses in inspection policy.
3. Out of a target of 1 billion plants, the forest department could only plant only 100 million seeds due to lack of adequate funds from state and central governments.
Haritha Haram is basically the program introduced by the chief Minister of Telangana in the year 2018 in order to enhance the vegetation cover of the state.
According to him, each person should plant one sapling and take optimum care of it. It would consequently improve the forest cover in the state.
