harmful effects of land pollution

I’m not quite sure whether you mean pollution on land or pollution of the soils that are used to grow things.

We are polluting both, land with our waste products, soils with our agricultural chemicals.

Both of these have damaging effects on humans by making much land unavailable for productive use. In addition, disposing of waste products, including toxic waste products, can cause illness to ourselves and to the other organisms living on this planet. Pollution of soils by agrichemicals may boost production in the short term but over a long period of time it will lower food production due to destruction of soil structure, which allows soil to blow away more easily, and by destroying beneficial soil organisms and their habitats.

The solutions are to produce fewer items which are thrown away, e.g. plastic bags and packaging, and to use natural organic, premacultural or biodynamic agricultural practices for food production. Both these changes are opposed by big business because it would result in a loss of income for the waste and toxin makers.
