Vaccines may consist of either live or killed viruses. Live vaccines contain weakened forms of the virus, but these vaccines can be dangerous when given to people with weak immunity. In these people, the weakened viruscan cause the original disease.

there are very many viruses. Each can cause a different type of harmful effects. One can be skin warts. Another can cause a sore throat or an upset stomach with vomiting. Others can cause lung pneumonia or heart muscle inflammation and death. In the brain, virus meningitis can result. The body's immune system can be attacked by the HIV virus that can cause AIDS and may be fatal. In the spinal cord, a virus may cause meningitis.
