Peace and Harmony as the Choice for Mankind

Peace and Harmony as the Choice for Mankind——The significance of peace and harmony

The wave of globalization has been connecting all the countries of the world into a community to an unprecedented extent, which implies that a mankind society in its true sense is taking shape. In the meantime, the significance of peace and harmony is being recognized by more and more far-sighted people for the following reasons:

Peace and harmony is a basic prerequisite. Peace and harmony can bring a peaceful and stable order to society, and they are a necessary condition for the survival and development of mankind. A world deprived of peace and harmony certainly will fall apart and return to the jungle era in which the strong prey on the weak.

Peace and harmony is an essential benefit. Peace and harmony are enjoyed and possessed jointly by mankind, which is a base for the full realization of the creativity potential of individuals, the sustainable development of the economy and culture of nations, and a true security for the long lasting prosperity of mankind society.

Peace and harmony is an ideal path. Peace and harmony mean dealing with disputes and resolving conflicts fairly and properly with neutralization and Middle Way principles to further the welfare of each individual as well as the wellbeing of mankind as a whole.

Peace and harmony is long lasting value. Ever since the emergence of mankind, numerous cultures have been produced, among which most vanished as soon as they appeared and were forgotten in history for being partial to certain aspect or limited to certain period. Among those thoughts which have been handed down to the present and continuing to have important influence, peace and harmony occupy the most dominating position.

Peace and harmony is high wisdom. It is the height of wisdom that determines the breadth of vision, the depth of exploration, the extent of progress and the limit of transcendence. None of the current major religions and major cultural traditions of the world does not love peace or pursue harmony. History shows that all the thoughts that are against peace and harmony are against the will of the people and shall perish by themselves.

Answer:

Wikipedia says, “Peace is a concept of societal friendship and harmony in the absence of hostility and violence. In a social sense, peace is commonly used to mean a lack of conflict and freedom from fear of violence between individuals or heterogeneous group.”

I think we kind of assume that one day, eventually, once we’ve suffered enough, and worked enough, and learned enough, we’ll come to a point our lives of continuous progress and stability. You’ve met someone you love, you have a good and stable job, there’s little animosity in your family and friend groups, your coworkers have a symbiotic relationship with you and you know what you’e going to do with the rest of your life. But that's not necessarily true, that not only takes a good philosophy and attitude but extreme luck.

It’s somewhat of an expectation of ourselves and reality, when we don’t live up to that and it doesn’t happen, those expectations are broken, which is one of the most stressful and distraught feelings. You should realize that you’ll never attain true peace with yourself and with reality at the same time, you can be proud of yourself but your life can be less than ideal, or you can have a seemingly perfect life, but feel like you’re missing out, like you need to improve. One will always exist. You can have good things in life, and it’s very important to value those things, but it’s unhealthy to try to have everything perfect.

I think peace is not about achieving stability or confidence, or finding someone who loves you or getting really good at something, or even having a perfect life, I think it’s about understanding, knowing that you are human you have to deal with human things, and you don’t ave to escape that because there’s nothing wrong with it. Look at yourself in the mirror and say “I am me, I feel how I feel, and that’s not a bad thing” and then look at people you dislike, people you admire, and people who are dead and say “You’re you, and you are a human, with human emotions, and there’s nothing wrong with that.” And take a deep breath, think about why people aren’t perfect, try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

All in all, anger and confusion are the opposite of peace, if you wouldn’t be angry at someone else for what you did then don’t be angry at yourself and vise versa.
