Solution:-

Given :-

  • Harry bought 24 meters of cloth at ₹40 per meter

  • He sold 12 metres for ₹ 45 per meter and the rest for ₹ 38 per meter

Find :-

  • profit or loss in %.

Explanation

Here,

  • Cost price of clothes = 24 × 40 = ₹ 960

  • Selling price of 12 meter clothes = 12.× 45 = ₹ 540

And,

  • Selling price of remainder clothes (24_12) meters = 12 × 38 = ₹ 456

Then,

  • Total Selling price of clothes = 540 + 456 = ₹ 996

Here, Selling price is greater than cost price.

So, Using Formula

Profit = Selling price - Cost price

⇒ profit = 996 - 960

⇒profit = 36

NOW, Calculate % profit,

Using Formula

Using Formula★ %profit = ( 100 × profit)/CP

⇒%profit = (100×36)/960

⇒%profit = 360/96

⇒%profit = 3.75%

Hence

  • %profit of clothes will be = 3.75%.
