Given:

Total distance traveled = 60 km

Total time taken = 10 hours

Speed on foot = 3 km/hr

Speed by car = 9 km/h

To Find:

Distance traveled on foot

Solution

Define x:

Let x the distance traveled by foot

Distance traveled ny car = (60 - x) km

Find the time taken to travel on foot in term of x:

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = x ÷ 3

Time = x/3 hours

Find the time taken to travel by car in term of x:

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = (60 - x) ÷ 9

Time = (60 - x)/9 hours

Solve x:

Given that the total time taken is 10 hours

x/3 + (60 - x)/9 = 10

3x + (60 - x) = 90

3x + 60 - x = 90

2x + 60 = 90

2x = 30

x = 15 km

Find the distance traveled on foot:

Distance traveled on foot = x

Distance traveled on foot = 15 km

Answer: Harry traveled 15 km on foot.
