GIVEN :

Harshita is 28 years old.

• And her son is 4 years old.

TO FIND :

• How many years hence will Harshita's age be 4 times that of her son ?

SOLUTION :

• Let assume after 'x' year Harshita's age will be 4 times that of her son.

• Now their New age –

↠ Harshita's age = (28 + x) year

↠ Her son's age = (4 + x) year

• According to the question –

⇒ (28 + x) = 4(x + 4)

⇒ 28 + x = 4x + 16

⇒ 4x - x = 28 - 16

⇒ 3x = 12

⇒ x = 12/3

x = 4

• Hence , After 4 year Harshita's age will be 4 times that of her son.

VERIFY :

• New age of Harshita = 28 + 4 = 32 year

• New age of her son = 4 + 4 = 8 year

⇒ Harshita's age = 4 (son's age)

⇒ 32 = 4(8)

⇒ 32 = 32 ( Verified ✔ )

Given :-

Age of Harshita = 28 years

Age of her son = 4

To Find :-

At what time Harshita's age be 4 times that of her son

Solution :-

Let

Age of harshita = (28 + x)

Age of son = (4 + x)

\sf (28 + x) = 4(4 + x)

\sf 28 + x = 16 + 4x

\sf 28 - 16 = 4x - x

\sf 12 = 4x - x

\sf 12 = 3x

\sf x = \dfrac{12}{3}

\sf x = 4

Therefore, After 4 years Harshita's age be 4 times that of her son

Verification

\sf 28 + 4 = 4(4 + 4)

\sf 32 = 4(8)

\sf 32 = 32

Also

32 is 4 times of 8
