Directive Principles of State Policy
Both Fundamental rights and DPSP are referred as the conscience of Indian Constitution.
The Fundamental rights and Directive principles of state policy are the two significant parts of Indian Constitution.
Fundamental Rights:
• The fundamental rights are incorporated in part - III of the Indian Constitution.
• Articles 12 - 35 describes about these fundamental rights.
• Fundamental rights are essential for the development of individual's personality.
• They are also very important to preserve the human dignity.
There are six fundamental rights. They are:
1. Right to Equality ; 2. Right to freedom; 3. Right to religious freedom ; 4. Right against exploitation ; 5. Cultural and educational right ; 6. Right to Constitutional remedies.
Directive Principles of State Policy:
• The DPSP were adopted from the Irish Constitution.
• These DPSP are enshrined in part IV of the Indian Constitution.
• Articles 35 - 51 describes about these DPSP.
• The main aim of DPSP is to provide Socio-economic justice to the citizens of India.
Directive Principles are divided into 3 types:
1. Socialist Principles ; 2. Gandhian Principles and 3. Liberal Principles.
• The Directive Principles of State Policy are non - justiciable in nature.
