Federalism is a very good option of government adopted by the constituent assembly of India. Federalism also develops a good sense of administration. ... India being Federal but with a strong center, balances the administration of the country and keeps peace and unity among the states, citizens and distinct cultures.

success of federalism in india

1) linguistic states

the creation of linguistic states was the first and major test for democratic politics in our country. In 1947, the boundaries of several old states of india were changed in order to create new ones.

2)language policy

our constitution did not give the status of national language to any language.hindi was identified as official language but itis the mother tongue of only 40% of indians.

3)centre state relations

after independence sharing power depended to a large extent on how the ruling parties and leaders followed the arrangement.for long tym in india, the centre and most of the states had the same ruling party. This led the state govt. to exercise their rights as federal units.

hope it helps
