NEW DELHI: Schools in India have been shut down since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Still, there is uncertainty regarding the school reopening date in India. Though steps have been taken to unlock, there is no confirmed date for reopening the schools.

With the increasing number of recovered cases, many organisations have started functioning with a limited number of staff members. Now, parents, students and teachers are curiously waiting to resume the normal schedule. They have a common question, “when does school reopen in India’.

According to some media reports, the Indian Government is also planning to reopen the schools in a phased manner from September 1 and November 14, 2020. However, some states are against the decision due to the safety of the students. Many other states like Delhi, Haryana and Karnataka are in support of the decision.

As the schools were closed from the last six months in the wake of the pandemic, they have adopted the system of online teaching through Zoom and other mobile applications. Some state boards have cancelled their examinations and syllabus for the next academic year has been reduced by 30% to lessen the burden for the students.
