Sports: Not much progress. India was way better in football and hockey earlier. Also not many medals have been earned in Olympics.

Food: India has seen green revolution which substantially increased the food security. Public distribution system (although it is corrupt) has helped a substantial number of families.

Space programmes: We didn't have any space programme at the time of Independence, and now we are launching satellites for US.

Education: Literacy rate has gone up, but it is still lesser than most of the developed nations. Also, the gender gap is very high (There is approximately 17% difference between male and female literacy rates)

Economy: At present, Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Politics: In spite of being such a large and culturally diverse country, no coup or secession has taken place.

Socially, India needs to do much better. Gender inequality is still prevalent in our society. Casteism is still present in villages.

In short, India of 2017 is much better than the India of 1947. In some aspects, it is better than other countries and is worse in some other aspects. But we have a distinct advantage in the form of a large number of working population. An average Indian is younger than an average Chinese or American. If we harness the energy of the youth, we can become the next superpower.

I have written it by myself please mark it as the brainllist if it will help you then
