Eichhornia crassipes also know as common water hyacinth is one of the fastest growing plants.

In their native range, these plants are pollinated with the help of long tongues bees. This reproduction can be both ways sexually or clonally.

Water hyacinth has a three flower morphs called tristylous. This name has been given to flower after the length of a pistil. It can be short, medium and long.
