Have Indian villages changed a lot since this chapter was written or are some values still practised as they were before?

The answer is No,the Indian villages have not changed a lot since this chapter was written. Yes they have changed but not so much , people are now less superstitious, and prefer questioning regarding a particular topic rather than blindly believing what the others say. People especially women have equal rights as men in most of the Indian villages and work hand in hand with men. Child marriage has almost become extinct. Rituals like Sati are vanished. But still there are some values that the village folk still abide to i.e girls & women should wear clothes that reaches down their knees, one can marry within one's caste etc.
