Have you ever been owling? My dad takes me each winter and it is an experience I will never forget! Some people have never heard of owling. Owling is taking a walk in winter late at night to see if you can spot an owl. Owls are nocturnal so they are most active at night. You have to be very quiet in order to spot an owl, and the best time to go is when the moon is full and bright. Last winter my dad and I went owling in the woods behind our house. We walked silently through the tress until we came to a clearing. The opening in the woods made a perfect circle and the ground was as pure and white as big bowl milk. In the opening we could see the tops of the trees staring down at us. It was the perfect place to spot an owl!
How is a simile used in the passage to add style to the author's experience?
A) The trees are compared to people staring.
B) Interrogative and exclamatory sentences are both used.
C) The clearing is compared to a bowl of milk by using as.
D) The author connects to the reader by sharing a personal experience.

Option C is the right answer.

tmaheshwari17: FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR EXPLANATION - a similie is a figure of speech where you compare one thing to another. The figure of speech in thus passage is actually FIRST PERSON since the narrator is telling you his own story. But since similie is asked, so option C is the right answer because clearing is compared with the milk.
