Have you guys heard the audio in which people hear laurel or yanny? What's the reason behind hearing two different words?

Hey there !!

Yes, I have heard of the on-going dispute about the Yanny/Laurel audio. The general verdict about the difference of opinion states that it differs because of the pitch difference. Others say that it tends to differ because of the different hearing device, volume, etc. for example, it was found that people who happened to listen to the audio through headphones majorly heard YANNY.
Another factor playing a role here is priming. Priming refers to your brain’s familiarity of words. When you ask someone to listen to the audio and ask them what word do they hear -yanny/laurel- their Brain is going to latch onto one of these words. But if you were to ask about the audio without mentioning the choices, they are most likely to tell a word that’s neither yanny/laurel.

Now, what is the correct word being said?
It’s LAUREL.

Hope this helps ya ✌️✌️
