Have you noticed that the green colour of the ferrous sulphate crystals has changed? You can also smell the characteristic odour of burning sulphur.

When crystalized ferrous sulphate (FeSO4.7H2O) is heated then it decomposes to ferric oxide (Fe2O3) , Sulphur dioxide (SO2) and sulphur trioxide (SO3) . As ferrous loses water its colour changes and smell of sulphur is detected because of the gases produced.
