Let the no. of goat be x and they of chicken be y.
Then,
◆For the first case:
x+y=30
◆For the second case:
4x+2y=84(goat has 4 leg and chicken has 2,therefore 4x and 2y)

Solve both the equation and u will get the no. of goat and chicken.
Divide the no.of goat to that of chicken to get the ratio of their no.
Hope it helps......

Let chicken = a

and

goat = b

Now... their head count is 30 means...

a + b = 30 ....(1)

Also it is given in question that tye total number of their (chickens and goats) legs = 84

As we know that chickens has two legs... So, 2a

And goats has four legs... So, 4a

A.T.Q.

2a + 4b = 84

2 (a + 2b) = 84

a + 2b = 42 ....(2)

Solve eq. (1) and (2) by end method...

1a + 1b = 30
1a + 2b = 42 [signs will be changed]
__________
0a - b = - 12
__________

- b = - 12

b = 12

Put value of b in eq. (1)

a + 12 = 30

a = 30 - 12

a = 18

So...,

\textbf{Number of chickens = 18}

and

\textbf{Number of goats = 12}

Ratio of chicken and goat...

\dfrac{18}{12}

\dfrac{3}{2}

\textbf{3 : 2}
