Bitmaps

Bitmaps consists of color dots and they cannot maintain image quality when images are scaled, they become blurry and vectors are made up of different color matrix which allows the images to scale up as much as you want without losing the image quality.

Vectors

Vectors often cannot obtain the same texture that usually bitmap images do. This is in short the main differences.
