NH3 + HCl → NH4Cl which is ammonium chloride. NH3 and HCl are gases which are very soluble in water. We usually see aqueous solutions of those gases. Put two concentrated solutions HCl and NH3 next to each other, and a white cloud of finely divided ammonium chloride will form—a gas phase reaction.
