Solution :  

  • HCF is the highest common factor also called as greatest common divisor ,( GCD ).
  • To find HCF of  8 and 5  we find factors of these numbers .
  • Prime factors are:
  • Prime factors of 8 =1\times 2\times 2\times 2

                                      = 1\times 2^{3}

  • Prime factors of 5= 1\times 5
  • Greatest common factor of 8 and 5 = 1 .

Hence , HCF of 8 and 5 is 1 .
