Given:

Terms are : x⁴y , 3x²y² , 6xy³

To find:

HCF of the terms of the expression x⁴y + 3x²y ²- 6xy³.

Solution:

x⁴y = x × x × x × x × y

3x²y² = 3 × x × x × y × y

6xy = 2 × 3 × x × y

Only xy is common in all the three terms.

Therefore, HCF = x × y = xy

So, HCF is xy

Question for practice:

Find the HCF of x³y² , x²y³ and x⁴y⁴.
