HCl + H20 is the common way of supplying hydrochloric acid, AKA muriatic acid. The gas HCl is dissolved in the water, in the same way that dissolved carbon dioxide makes carbonic acid, H2CO3. That is what dissolves limestone in caves and then evaporates to leave stalactites and can also leave closed caves with high levels of CO2, like the Grotto del Cane in Italy, where the layer of CO2 is deep enough to kill a dogs, but not a humans.

There are other gases which are dissolved in water to form an acid.

Hope this'll help you.
