Hey there!

We all know that HCl is highly corrosive mineral acid.
It's produced naturally in our (Human being) Stomach
It (HCl) is produced by the gastric glands in stomach. HCl activates the enzyme Pepsin and creates an acidic medium which kills the bacteria which might have entered while digestion &
also making it simpler for further digestion.

HCl does not harm our stomach because the gastric gland also produces Mucus which helps in preventing the damage of inner wall (layer) of stomach from the action of this Acid.

Hope it helped

An acidic solution is secreted by the lining of the stomach wall that gastric glands.

Explanation:

  • This acid creates a low pH environment in the stomach. The mucosa or the lining of the stomach wall does not get digested as it secretes hydrochloric acid from the parietal cells.
  • The pH in the parietal cells remains near neutrality. Also, the goblet cells in the mucosa secrete protective mucus in large quantities that line the mucosal surface.
  • The layer of the mucus traps basic electrolytes thereby neutralizing hydrochloric acid that penetrates the mucus.
