As both HCl and HNO3 form hydronium ions (H3O+) in water whereas alcohol and glucose do not disassociate into hydronium ions when mixed in water.
Hence only HCl and HNO3 show acidic characteristics in aqueous solutions while alcohol and glucose don't.
