Hcl has polar character though it has covalent bond why

Answer: HCL that is hydrochloric acid is said to be polar in character because chlorine ion is more electronegative than hydrogen.

where as HCL is also considered to be a covalent bond because hydrogen and chlorine shares electron with each other.
