Hydrogen have no fixed position in the periodic table.

Whereas NACL is an ionic compound because the force of attraction between two (postive & negative) charged......Na+ and cl- .....

HCl for a Ions in aqueous solutions only..But in free state it is in polarized state without being dissociated in ions. in HCl Cl- polarizes the electron cloud of H+ to make dipole-dipole interaction thus being covalent.


In case of NaCl Na+ and Cl- ions can exist and thus is ionic.
