and BC ( base ) = 8

As it is isoscenes tri. it's height is perpendicular to BC .

(12) square = AD square + (4) square

------( DC = 1/2 * BC

= 8 )

144 = AD square + 16

144 - 16 = AD square

128 = AD square

:. AD = 8√2 units

area of triangle = 1/2 * base * height

= 1/2*BC*AD

= 1/2 * 8 * 8√2

= 34√ 2 units sq.
