It is taken from the lesson The Letter by Dhumaketu. It explains the feelings of Ali when he thinks about the birds he had killed after he was separated from his daughter Miriam. He felt that he shouldn't have shot the bird and separated the young patridges from their parents.

Heya mate!!

Here's your answer!!

This extract is taken from the lesson 'The Letter' by Dhumaketu.

Through this extract, we can understand that Ali was once addicted to hunting, so much so that he couldn't live a day without it. But afterwards, when his daughter Miriam got married and went away to live in a faraway place ( Punjab ). He felt anguished and gloomy at this fact and started to live a life of solitude leaving his favourite sport (hunting). He now understood the pain felt by the young patridges when they became bereft of heir parents and the bewildered terror when they felt that they were alone in this gigantic world. Ali now felt that he shouldn't have killed the birds just for his mere pleasure.

Hope it helps you!!

Cheers ☺☺
