Dhundiraj Govind Phalke popularly known as Dada Saheb Phalke. He was an Indian director, screen-writer, editor, art-director and producer.

He born on April 30th in Triambak Maharashtra. He was known as the "Father of the Indian cinema".


Raja Harishchandra which was the first Marathi film known as India's first full-length film. It was the first Indian movie in 1913.


Dada Saheb Phalke award was instituted in 1969 in honour of Dada Saheb Phalke. This is one of the most Prestigious award which is given in the field of Indian cinema.


Dada Saheb Phalke made 95 feature-length movies and 27 short films in his Career. He died on February 16th 1944 in Nashik, Maharashtra.
