Explanation:

Given :

Length of the floor is 5m

The breadth of the floor is 4m

So, ( applying ar. l×b )

ar. of floor =4m×5m=20m2. Side of the carpet is 3m

So, (applying ar. of sq. =side×side(s))

area of carpet=3m×3m=9m2.

To find the area of the floor that is not carpeted or (uncarpeted) we will (−) minus the ar. of the floor from ar. of carpet

area which is not carpeted or( uncarpeted ) =20m2−9m2

Firstly, metaphor is a figure of speech in which we do comparison without using words 'like' and 'as'.

In this sentence his heart is compared to a stone means we are saying that his heart is a stone.

We say someone is stone-hearted when we want to say that he is very cruel.
