He lost his bunch of keys

In this sentence the word "keys" should be common noun right?

But our English teacher is telling that "keys" is a material noun.

If you know how it is a material noun then please give me a reason for it .​​

The definition of a material noun is a grammar term that refers to a material or substance from which things are made such as silver, gold, iron, cotton, diamond and plastic. An example of a material noun is "protein" in the sentence "Protein is critical for energy."

So, here in this case also the key is said to be as a material noun as it is made from a substance that can be a plastic or steel.
