Solution :
P = 20000
r = 5
n = 4 ( until the end of 2000)

so
A = P(1 + r/100)^n
A = 20000( 1.05)^4
A = 24310.125
so at the end of 200
population will be approx 24310

hope that helps

Solution:

Given:

The population of a city was 20,000 in the year 1997, It increased at the rate of 5% p.a.

Find:

Find the population at the end of the year 2,000.

Calculations:

→ 5% = 5/100 × 20,000 = 1,000

→ 1,999 = 20,000 + 1,000 = 21,000

→ 5% = 5/100 × 21,000 = 1,050

→ 2,000 = 21,000 + 1,050

22,050

→ 5% = 5/100 × 22,050

1102.5

→ 2,000 = 22050 + 1102.5 = 23152.5

or → 2,000 = 20,000 ( 1 + 5/100 )³

→ 20,000 × 21/20 × 21/20 × 21/20

23152.5

Therefore, 23153 is the estimated population.
