Given : The ratio of two sides of a parallelogram is 3 : 5 and it's perimeter is 48 meter.

To find : The length of sides of the parallelogram

Solution :

We know that opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal and parallel.

Let's assume the given ratio of two consecutive sides be 3x : 5x.

Now since opposite sides are equal to each other,

Perimeter of parallelogram = Sum of all sides

48 m = 3x + 5x + 3x + 5x

48 m = 16x

3 = x

Therefore, the sides of the parallelogram are,

  • 3x = 3 × 3 = 9
  • 5x = 5 × 3 = 15
  • 3x = 3 × 3 = 9
  • 5x = 5 × 3 = 15

Hence the required sides are of length 9 m, 15 m, 9m and 15 m.
