Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan, often known as M.S Swaminathan, was born on August 7, 1925.


He is an Indian geneticist and international administrator.


He is known as the 'Father of Green Revolution', also known as the pioneer of India's Green revolution.


He is the founder and chairman of the About Chairman.


In 1967, he was honoured with Padma Shri and in 1972 with Padma Bhushan Award.


He served as the Director General of Indian Council of Agricultural Research from 1972 to 1979 and in the International Rice Research Institute from 1982 to 1988.


In 1988, MS Swaminathan became the President of International Union of the Conservation of Nature and Natural resources.


In 1986, he was honoured Albert Einstein World Award of Science.


He holds over 50 honourary Doctorate degrees.


He is honoured with the first World Agriculture Prize instituted by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) on 24th October, 2018 in New Delhi, presented by Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu at Vigyan Bhawan at a special session.
