The Answer is: He told me that I was working hard.Indirect Speech Conversion:

Present Tenses  are changed into Past Tense.

Direct Speech Condition: If the reporting or principal verb is in the Past Tense. The verb "Be" is shifted from a position before the noun to a position after the noun.

Attention to be paid to whether the speech you are writing uses a modal verb.

Will, can and shall are converted to would, could, and should when reported. If the modal verb already exists in its past form, it remains unaltered when reported.
