\underline{\Huge\bold{Answer:}}

He wished his father that he might live long.

→ This is an Optative sentence.

→We often use the reporting verb 'wish' in such sentences while changing them from direct to indirect Speech.

There are two types of Speech:-

⚠️ Direct :- In such speech, the words of the speaker are conveyed exactly as were said to the listener.

For example:-

Ram said to his mother," I will be back after some time."

⚠️ Indirect :- In such speech, the words of the speaker are not conveyed exactly as they were said. They are conveyed to the listener after interpretation of tense changes.

For example:-

Ram told his mother that he would be back after some time.

The sentence given in the direct Speech is changed to Indirect speech over here!

\underline{\Huge\mathfrak{Changes\: made:}}

✓ The reporting verb is changed to told

✓ Since the reported clause is in simple past tense, the reported verb will changes to would (it's past form).
