Indirect/Reported Speech refers to speech being said to a third person/reporting what happened to a third person.
Example: She said,"I love ice - skating." (Direct)
Se said that she loved ice - skating. (Indirect)
In the above example, when writing in reported/indirect form, the sentence changes according to its tense form. Also, modifications regarding certain words like 'you' changes to 'I', 'will' changes to 'would', 'today' changes to 'that day', 'yesterday changes to 'the previous day' and many other words will have to be made.
He said to me,"Do you know Rahim?" (Direct)
He asked me whether I knew Rahim. (Indirect)
