The use of direct and Indirect Speech

In Direct speech, We simply repeat what someone said in exactly the same manner. The quoted words are enclosed in speech marks.

For example: Rahul said, "I am going to London."

In Indirect speech, we repeat what someone said in our words. Speech marks are not used in Indirect speech.

For example: Rahul said that he was going to London.
