Narration Practice Exercise | Assertive Sentence | Day-1. Hello friends, In this post, you will get ten questions of direct-indirect speech along with their answer and explanations. These are the questions that are very much important for exams of SSC like CGL, CHSL, MTS, CDS, NDA and competitive exams. For the very basic all the questions are explained and you will get benefited from these questions of narration.

After reading this post, you will get to how to change the indirect speech of assertive sentences. To me, the more you practise the more you get such questions and understand the concepts.

Let’s start…

Q.1. He says to me, “I am your student and you are my teacher.”

Ans. He tells me that he is my student and I am his teacher.

Explanation:- If the reporting verb remains in the present or future tense, the tense of reported speech does not change. Only pronoun change is applied according to the 123/SON rule.

Q.2. He said to me, “I am your student and you are my teacher.”

Ans. He told me that he was my student and I was his teacher.

Explanation:- Since the reporting verb is in the past tense so ‘Said to’ has been changed into ‘Told’ all the general rules are applied.
