I was taught by him to read Persian.

While 'changing' a sentence in the 'active voice'to 'passive voice', the rules to be followed are:

  • The basic form of a sentence in 'passive voice' = was/were + past participle form of the verb
  • The object in the active sentence is changed as the 'subject' of the 'passive sentence '
  • The subject should receive action.
  • Main verb in the 'active sentence' is changed to its third or past participle form in a passive sentence.
  • The 'preposition by’ is used to denote the doer of the action in a 'passive sentence'.
