Active voice refers to a sentence in which the subject is performing the action.

Passive Voice refers to a sentence in which the subject undergoes the action. In other words, it is writing the sentence in reverse order.

Example: Jake ate an apple. (Active)

An apple was eaten by Jake. (Passive)

NOTE: Sentences that convey habitual actions cannot be changed to passive mode.

He took out his map. (Active)

His map was taken out by him. (Passive)
