He writes the best hand in our class and he writes a better hand than his brother.

OR

He writes the worst hand in our class and he writes a worse hand than his brother.

OR

He writes the worst hand in our class and he writes a better hand than his brother.

Steps to fill in the blanks:

  • First we need to understand the sentence.

In simple words, the sentence means: His handwriting is the _____ in our class and his handwriting is _________ than his brother's.

  • Then find the appropriate words to fill in the blanks.

Logically speaking, someone’s handwriting can either be good or bad.

       -  Let us consider the word ‘good’.

           The comparative degree is better.

            The superlative degree is best.

         - Now let us consider the word ‘bad’

            The comparative degree is worse.

             The superlative degree is worst.

  • The final step is to put in the words correctly.

All the three options are correct. However, it is not a good idea to  use ‘best’ and ‘worse’ together, because then the sentence will not sound logically correct.
